Maharashtra Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar claimed that the bullet which killed Hemant Karkare was fired from the gun of a Mumbai police officer affiliated to the RSS, and not the from that of Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab or his other terror associates.
A Maharashtra Congress leader Sunday triggered a controversy by alleging that decorated IPS officer Hemant Karkare, who was killed during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, was gunned down by a Mumbai cop with alleged links to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), not Ajmal Kasab or any other Pakistani terrorist who carried out the brazen terror assault on India’s financial capital.
In a scathing attack on BJP’s Mumbai North Central candidate Ujjwal Nikam, who was the public prosecutor in the 26/11 terror attack trial in which Ajmal Kasab was sentenced to death, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar called him (Nikam) a “traitor” who allegedly “hid the truth” that Karkare, the former anti-terrorism squad (ATS) chief, was killed by a bullet from a police officer who was an RSS-loyalist at the time.
“Ujjwal Nikam defamed Congress by claiming Ajmal Kasab was served biryani. Who will do that? Later, he accepted it, what kind of a lawyer is he, a traitor who did not even testify in the court?,” Wadettiwar asked.

Wadettiwar further claimed that the bullet which killed Karkare was fired from the gun of a Mumbai police officer affiliated to the RSS, and not the from that of Kasab or his other terror associates who carried out the 26/11 attack.
