The event showcases various halal products.
Mumbai: The International Halal Show, an event to showcase various halal products organised by the Islam Gymkhana has been cancelled after alleged objections from some Hindu outfits. The event was scheduled to take place on November 12 and 13 at the gymkhana in Mumbai’s Marine Lines.
“We decided to call off the event after we received inputs that some organisations were opposing the halal show. The decision was in the interest of law and order and we do not want to disrupt peace and harmony,” the president of the Islam Gymkhan Yusuf Abrahni said.
Last week, an outfit Hindu Janajagruti Samiti organised a protest against the Halal Show. They alleged that the event is a part of ‘economic jihad’ and demanded the authorities to stop the event. Some other organisations also came out against the show. A social media campaign to cancel the Halal trade fair was also going on.
