Dalit man forced to drink liquor, beaten in UP’s Farrukhabad; FIR lodged (India Times)

KANPUR: A Dalit man was allegedly beaten up, forced to consume liquor and then garlanded with a shoes tied in a string in Nawabganj police area of Farrukhabad district. On the complaint of the victim’s mother, the police have registered an FIR and initiated investigation in the matter.

Rajneesh Kumari, wife of Ved Ram Jatav of village Virpur, alleged in her complaint that on January 29, her son Bhura (25) was sleeping at home when one Omkar Thakur, son of Shivam of the same village, reached their house and took her son away.

Rajneesh alleged that her son was forced to drink liquor after which they had altercation ensued. Under the influence of alcohol, Omkar gagged her son with a towel, thrashed him and placed a garland of shoes around his neck, she stated in her complaint.

Nawabganj police station incharge JP Pal said that an FIR under the relevant IPC sections and SC/ST Act has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s mother. Searches are underway to detain the accused.
