The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Monday held a protest in front of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Kozhikode, urging action against faculty member Shaija Andavan for allegedly expressing support for Nathuram Godse.

The protest, led by the ABVP Kozhikode district committee, saw activists burning photos of Godse as they demanded disciplinary measures against the teacher.

“There are many misunderstandings regarding Gandhi’s assassination, but the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has nothing to do with Gandhi’s assassination,” ABVP National Executive Committee member Yedu Krishnan said.

Yedu Krishnan added that they will file a complaint with the University Grants Commission (UGC) against Shaija Andavan.

On January 30, professor Shaija Andavan commented on advocate Krishna Raj’s Facebook post, stating, ‘Proud of Godse for saving India.’

Advocate Krishna Raj shared a post on Facebook, saying “Hindu Mahasabha activist Nathuram Vinayak Godse. Hero of many people in Bharat”.

A case has been filed against Andavan based on a complaint from the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) member.
