New Delhi: Three people accused of burning a shop in the 2020 Delhi Riots were acquitted by the Delhi court on Tuesday. The accused acquitted by Delhi’s Karkardooma Court were – Akram, Mohammed Furkan and Mohammed Irshad. An FIR was lodged on the instance of Gulshan Kumar alleging that on February 24, 2020, his 20-year-old  shop under the name and style of “Chawla Book Center”, situated in Shiv Vihar Tiraha, Delhi-94, was set on fire during the riot.

The complainant further alleged that all the articles of his shop were burnt and he suffered a loss of approximately Rs 8-10 lakh. “On the basis of foregoing discussion on evidence, I
find that it is not safe to rely upon testimony of PW2 and PW7 to assume presence of all the accused persons herein in the mob, which was behind the incident at the shop of PW1,” the judge said.
