Ujjain: Despite strict laws and social reforms, there seems to be no end to caste discrimination in the country. In a fresh incident reported from Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh, a Dalit groom, who is a police constable, was allegedly prevented from entering the temple by some upper caste men. The incident reportedly took place on Monday.
It is alleged that the groom identified as Meherban Parmar wished to visit the temple to take blessings of Lord Ram in Bardia village during his marriage procession on Sunday night. However, the temple’s gates were allegedly locked to prevent the entry of the groom.
A similar incident reportedly took place on Monday with one Kailash Parmar, who works for the state health department, according to a report in Free Press Journal. Around 5,000 people stay in Bardia village.
Meanwhile, a caste group called All India Balai Federation has submitted a memorandum to Superintendent of Police (SP) Satyendra Kumar Shukla and Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Satosh Tagore demanding action against the accused.
