Nagpur: ‘Hindu Mahasabha Nagpur Mahanagar’ — reads a weather-beaten board nailed on an ageing wooden plank at a bylane near Tilak statue in Mahal.

A grocer in the vicinity points towards an old building, which houses the city office of the country’s first Hindu rightwing organisation. “Go to the Joshi home,” says the shopkeeper.

The organisation once led by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar whose biopic hit the theatres and is being patronised by BJP runs from a small office inside a 100-year-old house of veteran activist, Arun Joshi.

Another activist Mohan Karemore, who also claims to head the Nagpur unit of the Mahasabha independently runs the Hindu Mahasabha’s activiy from his home at Paryavaran Nagar near Khamla.
