In Haridwar, 4 cops booked for thrashing Dalit woman in police station ( India times )

HARIDWAR: On the direction of the Haridwar SC/ST court, four policemen were booked for allegedly thrashing a Dalit woman inside a police station two years ago. The accused include the then-SHO of SIDCUL (an industrial area in Haridwar) Prashant Bahuguna.

The complainant, Rani, said she would often have fights with her brother-in-law, Ashok. She said she had approached police after the latter thrashed her and her husband, but police not only refused to register the complaint, they took her to the police station and beat her up there, all the while making casteist comments. After this, she moved court in 2021.
