Missing 4-year-old Dalit girl found dead in Aligarh; kin alleges sexual assault & murder

Aligarh: A 4-year-old girl was found dead in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The Dalit girl had gone missing on Sunday and she was found dead in a paddy field the next day. The family members of the deceased have alleged sexual assault and murder. Several protests were staged in the area on Tuesday, after the girl’s body was found.

According to a recent development, four locals were arrested for protesting after the death of the minor girl. According to Iglas circle-officer, Ashok Singh, a missing complaint was filed after the girl was not found.

‘No evidence of a caste-based crime’

Later, the girl’s body was recovered from a paddy field and it was sent for an autopsy. He said that further reports are awaited to ascertain if the girl was sexually assaulted. Singh added, “Sections will be added accordingly once the report is obtained. There is no evidence of a caste-based crime. Teams have been formed for investigation. ”

Reportedly, the girl was playing outside her home when she went missing. The police has preserved the viscera sample of the victim and it has been sent for examination, The Indian Express reported.

Following the protests, the police lodged an FIR against 80 persons. The complaint – in which 20 persons have been named and others are unnamed – was filed after a scuffle broke out during the protest.

On Tuesday, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) head Mayawati tweeted in relation to the incident and demanded stringent action against the accused.
