Jamshedpur: Ahead of the Ram temple consecration on January 22, different Hindu outfits based out of East Singhbum and the state have set a target to give the Akshat (sacred rice) packets to 51 lakh families in the state through the ‘grih sampark abhiyan’ by January 15.

With an enormous response from the recipients of the Akshat, affiliated organisations of the Rashtriya Swaymsevak Sangh (RSS) have decided to revise the number of households to 51 lakh which will be visited by the sampark abhiyan volunteers.

The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), which is coordinating the grih sampark abhiyan, has covered 18 lakh families by January 7. It was launched on January 1.

“Initially, the target was to reach out to 31 lakh families but given the encouraging response from the public along with the demand for more Akshat packets from the karyakartas has driven us to increase the figure,” VHP state organisation secretary Virendra Sahu said.

Sahu further said 5,000 groups of VHP are taking out the grih sampark abhiyan every day in the town and rural areas. The saffron outfits will involve more people in the door-to-door campaign to pace up the drive.
