A Dalit youth was held hostage and beaten up with wires over suspicion of theft in Korihar village of Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh. The victim’s father has lodged a case at Gurubaks Police Station. The police immediately registered a case against four people under the SC/ST Act and section 342, 427, 307, 506 of Indian Penal Code.
The incident took place on Thursday, May 11, around noon.
The 20-year-old was returning home after grazing the animals when he was allegedly abducted a group of four men. They took him to a under-construction building near the tower. he was beaten up with a wire hunter to force him to confess to the theft.
“When I got this information, I rushed to the scene and could hear my son’s screams from a distance. But no one came to help him. I called on to police and when they arrived at the scene, the suspects were not willing to open the door. But when the police put pressure on them, they released my son,” Ravi’s father Dilip Kumar told Maktoob.
Maktoob accessed videos and pictures of Ravi, which showed bruises.
Maktoob sought a response from Mahipal Pathak, CO, Lalganj, Raebareli via phone call.
He said, “there was a dispute between the two parties over a certain matter, and both parties have registered cases against each other under appropriate sections. The matter is currently under investigation.”
