BAREILLY – In a disturbing incident that unfolded in the cantonment area of Bareilly, two individuals have been apprehended by the local police for their alleged involvement in assaulting a 25-year-old Muslim youth inside a temple. The incident occurred on Friday but came to the forefront after a video of the attack went viral on Saturday.
The victim, identified as Ishaan, had ventured to the temple on a mission to search for his 35-year-old Hindu neighbor, who had left her home following a heated argument with her family. According to local authorities, Ishaan had returned from Hyderabad, where he works in a private firm, to visit his hometown.
As the young man and his neighbor were making their way past the temple, they noticed the elder sister they were searching for sitting within the temple premises. Seizing the opportunity, Ishaan and the woman began persuading her to return home. However, their efforts were abruptly interrupted by the arrival of four men at the scene.
The assailants, whose identities have been ascertained by the police as Aman Saxena and Himanshu Tandon, both in their twenties, immediately began to interrogate Ishaan about his identity. This inquiry quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, with the accused four men physically assaulting Ishaan.
Despite the brave attempts of the two women to intervene and reason with the attackers, the assailants remained unrelenting. The situation only de-escalated when other individuals present at the temple stepped in to restore order.
Ishaan initially chose not to report the incident to the police. However, after the video of the attack gained widespread attention on social media, law enforcement authorities took action. An FIR (First Information Report) was subsequently filed against the four individuals involved in the assault.
Bareilly’s Station House Officer (Qila police station), Rajeev Kumar, revealed that Ishaan had sustained injuries during the attack but had since received medical treatment.
