Unknown goons from an extremist right-wing outfit, Kranti Sena, allegedly conducted a “checking drive” in Muzaffarnagar and appealed to people to not allow Muslim men to apply mehendi on the hands of Hindu women as they indulge in ‘love jihad’ (a term by right wingers who believe Muslim men get involved with Muslim women just to impregnate them and increase the Muslim population). They also appealed to the shopkeepers to employ Muslim barbers.
Manoj Sinha, who is Kranti Sena’s general secretary took to Facebook to say that his outfit took out a checking drive and appealed to various shop owners to not employ any Muslim. The Times of India quoted one shopkeeper from the region saying, “They came to our shop but I actually did not understand what they wanted to convey.”
Another shopkeeper said, “How can we employ people on the basis of their religion? Besides, the customers that come to our shop have never asked about the faith of our staff.”
A small clip of the drive was shared by journalist Alishan Jafri which got noticed by the Muzaffarnagar police. The Police said, “In the above case, the district police are continuously patrolling the markets. Necessary action is being taken against those who disturb peace and communal harmony.”

As per some media reports, another outfit member Rajesh Kashyap, wrote on his social media that if Muslim men are found working as Mehendi artists on Hariyali Teej (a Hindu Festival), then Kranti Sena would teach them a strong lesson.
This drive has been conducted days after Dasna Temple’s (Ghaziabad) Chief priest Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, in a public address said that most electricians, shopkeepers, plumbers are Muslims who enter Hindu homes and prove to be a danger to Hindu women.
CJP, SabrangIndia’s sister publication, has approached the National Commission for Minorities to take cognisance of such derogatory and demonising statements made by Yati, seeking their timely intervention.
