Days after communal violence erupted in Bahraich, resulting in the murder of a 22-year-old man and injuries to several others, action has been taken against 23 policemen posted at two affected police stations of the district.
During the violence, protesters set several vehicles and buildings ablaze.
A senior police officer said on Monday that the action followed a review of the sequence of events. “The 23 policemen, including constables and head constables, have been removed from their posts and attached to the Reserve Police Lines,” said Bahraich Circle Officer
Ravi Khokher.
These officers were posted at the Ramgaon and Hardi police stations, he added.
