An uber driver named Prakash Gogoi in Assam’s Guwahati was arrested after being accused of beating up a Muslim journalist with an iron rod Saturday.
Mohd Abuzar Choudhary, a freelance journalist was beaten up by a rod because he had the payment option connected with his bank. The driver wanted the payment immediately and used an iron rod to beat up Abuzar after demanding to pay in cash.
Abuzar and Jain were on their way for a journalism assignment, Abuzar said to Maktoob over the phone.
“The driver was very aggressive. He abused us communally and called me ‘Bangladeshi’ several times. He even tried to run over me with his car,” Abuzar said.
