Two Dalit men assaulted, urinated upon and robbed in Tamil Nadu, 6 arrested ( India Today )

A group of men asked the two Dalit men about their native regions and caste. Upon learning they were Dalits, the group allegedly assaulted the men and reportedly urinated on them. The accused were reported to be in an inebriated state.

Six people have been arrested for allegedly assaulting two Dalit men and robbing them in Tamil Nadu’s Thirunelveli district, police officials said on Wednesday.

The incident happened when Manoj and his friend Mariyappan from Manimoortheeswarar had gone to a pond to have a bath on Tuesday evening. While returning, a group of men – who were reported to be in an inebriated state – stopped them and asked about their native regions and caste.

Upon learning that they were Dalits, the gang allegedly assaulted the men and reportedly urinated on them. The men told police that the gang detained them at the spot till night, news agency ANI reported.
