Tumkur: Two dalit youths stripped, beaten, burnt with coconut tree palms, killed

Tumkur, Apr 24: In a heinous crime that is reported from Peddanahalli village of Gubbi taluk of the district, two Dalit youths were mercilessly tortured and killed.

Girish Moodalagiriyappa (30), resident of Peddanahalli village and Anil (32), resident of Manchaladore village are the unfortunate victims of this crime.

Dead Body of Girish Moodalagiriyappa was disfigured and thrown on farm land. Dead body of Girish was found in the pond on outskirts of Manchaladore village.

It is said, prime accused in the case, went to Girish Moodalagiriyappa’s house, when the villagers were busy celebrating temple festival, and took him to deserted area after convincing them on some pretext. It is suspected that the prime accused along with his friends must have burnt him alive after torturing him with burning coconut palms. Girish of Manchaladore village is also said to have taken on some pretext, killed and thrown in pond.

Unconfirmed reports claim that the duo was tortured and murdered when they were caught stealing the water motor from the farm of the accused. It is also said that one of the deceased Girish od Peddanahlli was an auto rickshaw driver and a bike theft case against him in Gubbi police station.

Meanwhile, SP Rahul Kumar Shahapurwada said that there is a suspicion that the accused may be involved in other crimes also. The reason for this heinous crime is not yet known, he added. Police are investigating further.
