KANPUR: Communal tension prevailed in the Maitha Bazar area of Kanpur Dehat after a teenager who was dressed as a member of Hanuman’s Vanar Sena in a shobha yatra was poured with hot tea for allegedly picking up a banana from a fruit vendor’s cart. The incident occurred on Tuesday while a FIR was lodged on Wednesday.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad activists and Bajrang Dal volunteers reached the spot and created a ruckus, demanding strict action against the culprit. Following this, the fruit vendor, identified as Shanu Ahmad (27), was arrested late on Wednesday.
