
An attack took place at St. Mary’s Church in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar on Sunday, where a statue of the Mother was vandalised.
Around 12:30 PM, an individual on a bike threw a brick at the statue’s enclosure, shattering the glass. The statue inside was subsequently moved to another location.
The identity of the attacker remains unknown. However, the police have obtained CCTV footage and are investigating the incident.
No official complaint has been filed by the church authorities, who stated that they are not planning to lodge one at the moment.
Shopkeepers near the church reported that the attacker was not wearing a helmet but said they could not identify him, MediaOne reported. The police are gathering information from these shopkeepers and nearby residents.
St. Mary’s Church, which was targeted, is under the Syro-Malabar Church and is located in Mayur Vihar, home to a significant Malayali community.
