During the Muharram procession in Mallasamudra village of Gadag taluk in Karnataka state, two Muslim youths named Tausif (23) and Musthaq (24) were brutally attacked and stabbed by the members of Sri Ram Sena (SRS).
Sri Ram Sena is a Hindutva-wing Hindu group founded & headed by Hindu extremist Pramod Muthalik, known for his anti-Muslim hate speeches.

According to the media, there was a scuffle between two groups during the Muharram procession. It is said that Somesh Gudi of Sri Ram Sena attacked Tausif with a knife who had come to settle the ruckus. The injured have been admitted to Jim’s Hospital and are being treated. Tausif is said to be in critical condition due to severe injuries.
Responding to the incident, SP Shivprakash Devaraju said the priority is to treat Tausif, who is seriously injured. Yallappa and Somu have already been arrested in connection with the incident. He said that the exact reason for the attack was not known.
