A 17-year-old boy Mohammad Shaukat was stabbed to death allegedly by a group of at least 15 men including three juveniles in southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area.
Police said Shaukat was murdered after a fight started between Shokat and the accused over uploading stories on Instagram. An FIR has been registered at Uttam Nagar police station, and three juveniles have been arrested. A hunt is on to nab the others.
“My brother worked at a factory and was on leave on Sunday. He went out of the house Sunday evening and did not return. Late in the night, we received a call that Shoukat had been found in an unconscious condition near a school in the Uttam Nagar area. When we reached the spot, Shaukat was alive. He was breathing. Policemen who were at the spot scolded us when we requested them to take my brother to the hospital. It was only after pleading several times, police officers took him to the hospital. He was taken to Mahendru Hospital and then was shifted to DDU hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival,” Nargis said to Maktoob.
While responding to the police claim of murder over the Instagram story, Nargis said his brother was criticising a local goon named Sohan Lal Kashyap on Instagram.
“We got to know that Shoukat had posted a reel on Instagram in which he targeted a local criminal, Sohan Lal Kashyap. They got angry at this and killed him,” she said.
In her complaint to the police, Nargis named six people including Sohan Lal Kashyap. The other men named in FIR are Mohit Purana, Arun Bajrangi, Vipin, Kamal and Golu.
Nargis also said to Maktoob that her brother was sexually assaulted by the assailants.
On Monday evening, Shoukat’s family members gathered outside the Uttam Nagar police station and demanded strict action against the accused.
“We lodged an FIR, and conducted the victim’s post-mortem examination on Monday. Initial investigation has revealed that he had posted a video on social media and had some heated arguments with the locals. On Sunday, he was picked up by them and they killed him. One of the accused is a local criminal of the area and a proposal for his externment is pending. We are looking for him,” Indian Express quotes Additional DCP (Dwarka district) Vikram Singh as saying.
Singh told PTI news agaency that according to the post-mortem report, the cause of death was however opined due to hemorrhagic shock caused by tearing or penetration of large blood vessels i.e.right external artery along with tearing of large intestine caused by some sharp-pointed object ( weapon of offence) like ice pricking needle (sua/poker).
