New Delhi: A Delhi court on Thursday rejected United Against Hate founder Khalid Saifi’s plea seeking the use of his mobile phone and SIM card which was seized during an investigation into his role in an alleged conspiracy in the 2020 Delhi riots.

Special judge Amitabh Rawat said the phone and the SIM card cannot be released as they contain information relevant to the case. “The mobile phone of the applicant, Khalid Saifi, and the SIM card… have been seized by the investigating officer and they contain information relevant to this case. Thus, the mobile or the SIM card cannot be released,” he said.

Saifi said that because of the seizure of the SIM card, his family faced difficulties in accessing essential services for routine transactions.
