BENGALURU—A Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader of Kerala, Alakode Biju (40), was injured when a crude bomb that he was making at his house exploded accidentally on January 29.

The incident happened in Alakode town of Kannur district, Kerala.

The police said that Biju suffered serious injuries on his left hand and two fingers were severed. The house was also damaged in the blast. Biju is undergoing treatment at the Malabar Medical College Hospital at Ulliyeri in Kerala.

 The police have registered a case under the Explosives Act. Though the explosion occurred on January 29, the police received information the next day.

Biju an accused in the murder of a CPI (M) activist

Biju is an accused in the 2016 murder case of a CPI(M) activist Dhanraj and out on bail. CPI(M) Peringome area secretary C. Sathyabalan told media persons that the RSS was trying to create tension in the area. He demanded that the police should investigate the conspiracy hatched by the RSS to create bombs in the state.
