‘Rs 5,000 fine, 50 shoe slaps if any dalit seen near farm’: Announcement causes tension in UP village

MUZAFFARNAGAR: Residents of Pavti village were shocked after a man using ‘dhol’ made a bizarre announcement on Monday evening.

The incident occurred under Charthawal police station limits in Pavti Khurd. The video of the announcement has gone viral on social media.

“The ‘Munadi’ (drum beating) on behalf of Rajbir Pradhan, that if any dalit is seen on his DOL (Borderline of the farm), or tubewell, he will be punished with a fine of Rs 5,000 and 50 shoe slaps,” said the man who can be seen in the viral video announcing and beating the drum.”

The announcement caused tension in the village as police swung into action and filed an FIR against the accused who is the father of dreaded gangster Vicky Tyagi, who was gunned down inside court premises in 2015.

Soon after the video went viral, the announcer Kunwar Pal was arrested immediately while Rajbir was nabbed on Tuesday.

SSP Muzaffarnagar Abhishek Yadav said, “A person named Rajbir, who calls himself as Rajbir Pradhan, in village Pavti Khurd, under Charthawal police station area, not only he made unlawful and objectionable casteist remarks but also threatened violence against a particular community. A case under the relevant sections including SC/ST Act has been registered and both accused arrested, further investigation is on.”

It should be noted, that village Pavti Khurd, rose to infamy after Vicky Tyagi, a gangster was murdered years ago. The reins of his gang were taken over by his wife Meenu Tyagi.
