
Pune: A WhatsApp status supporting Aurangzeb led to communal tension in Sakhar village (Rajgad taluka, Pune district) on Saturday (March 1) night. Following the viral post, a group of youths gathered in protest and later vandalized a place of worship.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, Pune Rural Police Superintendent Pankaj Deshmukh arrived at the scene, assuring strict action against those responsible.
According to Assistant Police Inspector Nitin Khamgal of Velhe Police Station, the individual who posted the controversial status is a minor and has been residing in Pune for the past two years. His father informed the police that the youth allegedly has mental health issues.
As news of the WhatsApp status spread on social media, a large group of youths gathered in Sakhar village, where some delivered provocative speeches before vandalizing a place of worship.
Police acted swiftly to prevent further escalation, and an investigation is currently underway. Authorities have confirmed that those responsible for both the online post and the violent reaction will face legal action. Following police intervention, the situation in the village has returned to normal.
