PM Narendra Modi RSS Headquarters Nagpur Visit Live Updates: Amid the crackdown on Maoists in Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the BJP’s government’s efforts and said there is a new era of peace in Naxal-affected areas owing to development and welfare efforts. Taking a dig at the Congress, Modi said naxalism got encouragement due to policies of the grand old party. Modi also laid the foundation stone, initiating the commencement of work and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects – ranging from thermal power plants and gas pipelines to new road and rail networks to school and housing projects – worth more than Rs 33,700 crore.

Modi in Nagpur: PM Modi, who paid visit to the RSS headquarters in Nagpur earlier in the day, said that the Sangh was like India’s banyan tree of immortal culture and mordernisation. PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre building and visited Deekshabhoomi, where Dr B R Ambedkar had embraced Buddhism in 1956. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were also present during the visit.

The significance of PM’s visit to RSS HQ: Modi had last visited the RSS headquarters in 2013, when he was serving as the chief minister of Gujarat, for a meeting. This is his first as the Prime Minister. The trip gains significance given the tensions witnessed between BJP and Sangh in the days leading up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In an interview with The Indian Express, BJP chief J P Nadda had said that the party no longer required hand-holding by the RSS adding to them. Both the Sangh and the BJP have, since then, tried to mend relations. While speaking at the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in February, PM Modi had praised the RSS, saying that the organisation had inspired “lakhs like me” to “live for our country”.
