NEW DELHI: A violent clash erupted between two communities over the installation of religious flags, injuring two people, in a locality in Gujarat’s Bharuch city.

The incident happened on Tuesday night in Gokul Nagar, leading to the detention of 17 persons.

The police rushed to spot and dispersed the rioters. The situation is currently under control, an official said.

Police officers arrived swiftly to disperse the crowd, and the situation is now under control, confirmed Bharuch Superintendent of police (SP) Mayur Chavda.

He said, “People from two different faiths had an altercation in Gokul Nagar over the issue of installing religious flags in the area on Tuesday night. Our teams immediately rushed to the spot and dispersed the mobs. Two persons were injured in the stone-pelting.”
