A chargesheet should be filed in the 2021 case in connection with the hate speeches against Muslims during a Hindutva event, the Supreme Court told the Delhi Police Monday, questioning its tardiness in the matter.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, who was leading the bench hearing the case, questioned why the Delhi Police took five months to file a First Information Report and whether anyone has been arrested yet.
“The additional solicitor general submitted that the investigation is now at an advanced stage. The report of the voice sample is expected soon from the forensic lab. A copy of the chargesheet be placed on records. The matter (will be heard) in the first week of April,” read the order.
The court was hearing a contempt petition filed by activist Tushar Gandhi, great grandson of Gandhiji.
