Ahmedabad: The three Muslim trustees of Imamshah Bawa Roza Sanstha Trust on Thursday requested the district collector to restore the destroyed tombs at the shrine in Pirana on the outskirts of the city, and to take over administration of the property from the trust.

The Muslim trustees stated in their memorandum that supporters of trust’s ad hoc chairman Gangaram Kaka, whose name has still not been inserted into the public trust register (PTR), on May 7 desecrated the holy place and destroyed the 600-year-old graves of Imamshah Bawa and his family members.

They requested the collector to remove the ad hoc chairman and take over the administration of the property to stop unwarranted activities. They alleged that he has been indulging in destruction instead of preserving the shrine.

The trustees, who are also descendants of Imamshah Bawa, have urged the collector to restore the tombs to their original state. The administration may also inform them of the time, so they can perform rituals while the repairs are underway. They have also demanded police protection for the occasion.
