Rohtak: Some 20-odd Muslim families living in Isharhedi village of Jhajjar district on Delhi-Haryana border are living in fear after a group of people barged into some houses and asked all the community members to leave the area before Holi or face the consequences.

According to the FIR filed at Bahadurgarh police station on March 1, the complainants said 60-70 people in the 20-35 age group came to the colony on February 29 and asked them to vacate their houses before Holi or face the fallout. One member who works as carpenter and has been staying in the locality for last six years, told TOI that they are living in fear after the incident. “We have sent minor members of our families to Delhi and other places,” he added.

None of the family members have gone to work, fearing backlash from the youths. Another member of the community who works as mason and has been residing in the area for last 10 years, said he was originally from Bihar but had moved here to earn his livelihood. “The board examinations of our children are to begin, and we fear that they might miss these due to the situation,” he added.
