Four men were booked and detained after a Palestinian flag was waved during a Muharram procession in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district, police said.

According to police, Bajrang Dal members complained about the flag waving during the procession at Shivaji Chowk in Khandwa city on Wednesday. Members of the outfit also met SP Manoj Kumar Rai.

Moghat Road police station in-charge Sanjay Pathak said, “All four accused persons are youths… We have detained them and are yet to arrest them.”

The complainant, one Aditya Mehta, alleged that a “crowd of about 200-250 people”were waving “Hamas flags and raising slogans in support of Hamas”. The FIR was registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita that deal with offences related to promoting enmity between different groups.
