Mahant Narayan Giri, speaking at the VHP’s Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal (advisory board) meeting, claimed that 40,000 temples’ lands in Tamil Nadu have been taken over by Muslims and Christians. He also gave an example of a Valmiki village in Ghaziabad, where, according to him, Hindu residents had to vacate owing to the large population of Muslims, alleging that community leaders did not address their issues. He then mentions another village and alleges that they were restricted from performing “aarti” at certain times due to the Azaan (call to prayer) because of the large Muslim population in the area.
