Srinagar: Over 113,000 Kashmiri migrants are registered to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for three seats in the Valley, officials told PTI.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration is set to organise awareness camps for Kashmiri migrants in Jammu and Udhampur districts from April 3 to 14 to encourage their participation in the elections.

“We currently have 113,000 registered Kashmiri migrant voters. The voter list is being updated in accordance with the election process,” Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner Arvind Karwani told the news agency.

Karwani, responsible for coordinating the polling arrangements for migrants, explained that the voting will take place in three phases across the Valley.

“Polling in Anantnag will be on May 7, followed by Srinagar on May 13, and Baramulla on May 20. It will be conducted in three phases, with the same polling stations for each constituency,” Karwani was quoted as saying.

A total of 26 polling stations have been established for migrants, with 21 in Jammu, four in Delhi, and one in Udhampur, Karwani confirmed.

“Migrant voters have two options for voting. They can fill out an M-form, providing prior information, and vote at the special polling stations. Alternatively, they can vote through postal ballots by filling out Form-12C,” he elaborated.
