The Kerala government have decided on Tuesday that portions which the Union government textbook regulator NCERT had deleted from textbooks of classes XI and XII as part of its “syllabus rationaliation” process should be taught to students.
The curriculum committee of Kerala State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will print the supplementary textbooks in Kerala.
SCERT director M Jayachandran said that the SCERT curriculum steering committee suggested retaining the removed chapters as supplementary textbooks.
“We can prepare and print it in a couple of months so that these books would reach students latest by August,” TOI quoted him as saying.
The 2002 Gujarat Muslim genocide, history of the Mughal empire, contribution of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, the ban on Hindutva militant group RSS and portions related to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi are among topics removed from NCERT textbooks.
NCERT has dropped portions of textbooks from Classes 6 to 12. But the changes for classes up to 10 don’t affect Kerala as the state relies on NCERT textbooks only for Classes 11 and 12…
