Provocative and hate speeches against Muslims were made at the ongoing 10th Ananthapuri Hindu Maha Sammelan (Kerala Hindu conclave) in Kerala’s capital city Thiruvananthapuram, where Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan delivered inaugural address.
The speakers called upon the Hindu community to boycott Muslim businesses.
This comes after many states in India including Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and New Delhi witnessed hate assemblies organised by Hindu monks and Hindutva groups. Genocidal calls against Muslims were made during the event.
The Kerala event was organised by Hindu Dharma Parishad and this is the first time that a Christian outfit was participating in the Hindu Maha Sammelan.
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who directed “The Kashmir Files,” was the chief guest at the event, which has former Mizoram Governor and BJP leader Kummanam Rajesekharan as the patron.
Union minister V Muraleedharan, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders J Nandakumar and Valsan Thillankeri and Vishva Hindu Parishad state president Viji Thampi are speaking in various sessions at the event.
“The subjects which are being discussed here, I find them very close to my heart,” Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said in his speech.
Christian outfit with anti-Muslim leanings took part
The Christian Association and Alliance for Social Action (CASA) which is known for its anti-Muslim policies and propagandas, participated in a debate on “love jihad, land jihad and halal food” at the pro-Hindutva event.
‘Love jihad’ is a silent war, the CASA president Kevin Peter said on Friday.
Speaking at the event, Peter went on to say: “This is a silent war, part of the global agenda. In India, we call it love jihad in England they call it grooming gang. The lives of our girls have been destroyed without any security.”
“The aim of the Muslim community is to increase their population, thereby increase the number of MPs and MLAs and control the government. That is why we should oppose ‘love Jihad’,” Peter said.
Like saffron outfits, the CASA has been campaigning to boycott halal food in Kerala.
Former MLA’s hate speech
During his speech, former MLA PC George said that the Muslim traders were deliberately mixing infertility drugs in the drinks, that Muslims were trying to increase their population and turn India into a Muslim country, and that Muslim clerics were distributing food after spitting it out three times.
Muslims set up businesses in non-Muslim areas, thereby draining money off other communities, said George.
He was speaking about Muslim businessman M. A. Yusuff Ali’s Lulu Mall in “Hindu dominated region” Thiruvananthapuram. With a total built up area of 2,000,000 sq ft (190,000 m2),it is one of the largest malls in India.
Police complaints
Muslim Youth League Kerala chapter and Welfare Party of India Kerala unit lodged complaints seeking action against PC George for his hate speech targeting Muslims during the Hindu conclave.
The complaints were sent to State DGP by Welfare Party president Hameed Vaniyambalam and Muslim Youth League General Secretary PK Firoz.
No FIRs were lodged till now.
