Santosh, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker in the Kakkayangad area of Kannur district in Kerala, was injured in a blast caused by an explosive bomb he kept in his own house.
The explosion, which occurred on Sunday evening, also injured Santosh’s wife, Lasitha.
According to sources, the blast took place inside Santosh’s house located in the Muzhakkunnu police station area. Santosh was allegedly making a bomb when it exploded, injuring him and his wife. Fortunately, his mother and children who were in another room at the time of the blast were not hurt.
An FIR has been filed against Santosh under Section 286 of the Indian Penal Code for handling explosives in a dangerous manner, posing a threat to human life.
Police officials have stated that official information regarding the incident can be disclosed only after an inspection.
Reports suggest that a similar incident had taken place at Santosh’s residence two years ago.
Kannur District Congress president, Martin George, has demanded a detailed investigation into the incident. He stated that the fact that activities like manufacturing bombs are still taking place in Kannur, which is known for its peaceful atmosphere, is worrying.
The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the area, and locals are hoping for a speedy investigation into the matter. The police are currently investigating the incident and are yet to provide further details.
