A Kashmiri mosque imam Javaid Ahmed Lone who was arrested by the National Investigation Agency in a terror-funding case, was granted bail by a Delhi court on Tuesday.

Helping a person build a house or providing financial assistance to a man for his daughter’s medical treatment cannot be considered as incriminating, the court told the central agency while granting bail to Lone who was arrested on 15 February 2022.

Lone was an imam at a mosque in Ganderbal.

The NIA had alleged that Lone was a member of banned Muslim outfit Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir.

The central agency stated that they recovered a list of Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir members from the possession of Lone, who allegedly collected Rs 15 lakh from them. The NIA alleged that Lone promised a man financial help to build a house and gave Rs 500 to another man to treat his daughter’s illness.
