Mangaluru: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary. To mark the occasion, “Shaurya Jagarana Yatra,” a Ratha Yatra led by the Bajrang Dal, will be organized from September 25 to October 10.
The yatra, slated for inauguration at the historic grounds of Chitradurga, will culminate in Udupi after traversing various districts of Karnataka.
Regional Joint Secretary of VHP, Sharan Pumpwell, told reporters in Mangaluru that the Yatra will commence in Chitradurga, the land of heroic figures like Madakari Nayaka and Obavva. The yatra will then pass through Davangere, Shivamogga, Sagar, Sringeri, Balehonnuru, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Tumkur, Chikkaballapur, Doddaballapur, Bengaluru, Mandya, Mysuru, Kodagu, Sullia, Puttur, Mangaluru, before culminating in Udupi.
“In every district, thousands of enthusiastic youths will participate in public meetings as they pay tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country,” Sharan said.
He spoke about the organization’s commitment to strengthening the Bajarang Dal by establishing new units.
“Currently, there are over 2,000 units of Bajrang Dal in the state. Our objective is to establish new units in every district. By the next Janmastami, we aspire to have 5,000 units,” he stated.
