Hindu seers and leaders in Karnataka’s Mangaluru on Friday voiced their concerns over the proposed repeal of anti-conversion and cow slaughter laws in the state, and threatened to protest against the Congress-led state government if these laws are altered.

The discontent was conveyed during a press conference on Friday, following an hours-long meeting held amongst them earlier the same day. The meeting also included representatives from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

The religious leaders said they view the decision to remove the anti-conversion law and the Prevention of Slaughter and Protection of Cattle Act as “anti-Hindu” and claimed it hurt Hindu sentiments.

They warned the government against compromising on Hindu sentiments, stating that if such actions persisted, monks statewide would organise widespread protests…
