Jharkhand Police Probe Palestinian Flag Display at Muharram Event (One India)

By Krishna Kripa

The Jharkhand police have initiated an inquiry after videos surfaced showing youths waving Palestinian flags during a Muharram procession in Dumka district. These videos, which went viral on social media on Wednesday, depict the youths atop a vehicle, waving flags and chanting slogans at Dudhani Chowk.

Sub Divisional Police Officer of Dumka, Vijay Kumar Mahto, stated, “These videos are being circulated on social media platforms. We are investigating these videos. We will take action if they are genuine.” The investigation aims to verify the authenticity of the footage and determine appropriate actions.

Political Reactions and Demands for Action

BJP state president Babulal Marandi shared one of the videos on X, demanding strict measures against individuals with what he termed a “Talibani mentality.” Marandi criticised the Hemant Soren government, alleging that such incidents stem from its policy of Muslim appeasement.

Marandi further commented, “Waving the Palestinian flag during the Muharram procession in Dumka is an act of treason and also a despicable attempt to spread fear among the general public of the area. Bangladeshi infiltrators have been settled under the protection of the state government. The aim is to put an end to the tribal indigenous identity of Santhal Parganas and secure the vote bank.”
