Nashik: A group of around eight people at Asoda village in Jalgaon taluka fatally beat up a 43-year-old villager for allegedly barging into a woman’s house in a druken state and inappropriately touching her on Thursday afternoon, reports Ranjan Dasgupta.
Superintendent of police (Jalgaon) Maheswar Reddy said the woman was alone at home when Bhaskar Bhangale suddenly entered.
“She got scared and raised an alarm after being touched inappropriately. A group of villagers reached the spot and beat up the man,” Reddy said.
Inspector Mahesh Sharma of the Jalgaon taluka police station said Bhangale died on the spot. “The villagers, including some women, were not armed. Barring some swelling near Bhangale’s ears, there were no marks of internal injuries,” he said.
“The villagers said Bhangale, who worked as a farm labourer, would often get drunk and create nuisance. There was resentment against him among the local people,” he said. The woman’s parents were at a field for sowing activity when the incident occurred.
