Congress on Sunday removed Sunil Sharma, who is known for his right-wing stands, as its Lok Sabha election candidate from Rajasthan’s Jaipur, and replaced him with Pratap Singh Khachariyawas following an uproar over the candidature of Sharma.
Sharma is associated with the Jaipur Dialogues, a Hindutva digital platform that has made several derogatory videos and posts against the Congress and its leaders, including Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress’s decision came a day after many Congress leaders including Shashi Tharoor sharply criticised Sharma over his remarks.
Wondering how the man linked such a platform ended up on the Congress candidates list, Tharoor posted on X, “He must have undergone some sort of Pauline epiphany on the road to 24 Akbar!”
