A 25-year-old Muslim youth, Arbaz, was brutally murdered by a Hindutva group Ram Sena in Belagavi of Karnataka for allegedly having an interfaith love affair with a Hindu girl.

Arbaz’s body was found beheaded near the railway tracks of Khanapur.

“My brother received a call on 28 September from a Hindutva group named Ram Sena and he went to meet them. Hours after, Railway cops called us and said to us that Aebaz died of suicide and body is on the railway track,” Sameer Parshwadi, kin of deceased told Maktoob.

He confirmed to Maktoob that there were continuous death threats from Hindutva groups including Ram Sena because of the love affair between the son of a Muslim family and the girl from a Hindu family.

“My brother was getting death threats from Ram Sena. They warned my brother and said: ‘Leave her or else we will kill you.’” Sameer said.

“It was not a suicide. It is a cold-blooded murder,” kin of Arbaz claimed. “His hands were tied with rope and his body was cut into different parts.”

The mother of Arbaz in her complaint has alleged that the love affair between her son and the Hindu girl and subsequent death threats from Hindutva groups lead to her son’s death.

Railway police have registered a case and investigating the matter. The investigation is underway based on the complaint.
