In Jharkhand, another Muslim lynched to death

On Sunday morning, 27-year-old Mubarak Khan was lynched to death in the Angara region in Ranchi, Jharkhand capital.

Mubarak Khan, a driver by profession and a resident of Maheshpur, was thrashed to death by a 17-members Hindu group who belonged to the nearby village Sirka.

According to Tabarak Khan, the elder brother of Mubarak Khan, the accused are Saheb Ram Mahto, Durga Mahto, Raju Munda, Durga Munda, Lakshman Munda, Balram Mahto, Karulal Mahto, Sakhichand Mahto, Kamlal Mahto, Pokhar Mahto, Jaleshwar Mahto, Dilip Mahto, Chunnu Thakur, Jitendra Thakur, Sanjay Mahto, Dashrath Mahto, Rajendra Mahto, Jhabbu Lal Mahto, Pranav Mahto, Raghunath Munda and 20 unknown people.

Based on the complaint by Tabarak Khan, the police have lodged an FIR against all these 17 identified persons and several others whose IDs are yet to be established.

“We have detained nine of the 17 men named in the FIR lodged by Mubarak Khan’s brother. They are being interrogated” SP (Rural) Naushad Alam said.

According to the FIR, Mubarak Khan had sustained severe injuries on his neck, back, and head.

In the FIR, the family has alleged that he was murdered as a part of a conspiracy.

They ( accused people) tied Mubarak Khan to a pole and thrashed him with the intent of killing him in the wee hours of Sunday, The Telegraph quoted family members of deceased.

Rajesh Kumar, officer-in-charge of Angara Police Station told the reporters that the deceased was trying to steal the battery and wheels of a Pulsar bike.

Durga Munda, one of the accused had lodged an FIR against Mubarak Khan and two others for stealing tyre and battery of his bike.

While responding to the media, the locals denied the allegations of theft and said that Mubarak Khan was framed under a conspiracy as he was having a dispute with some villagers of Sirka.

In a video uploaded by journalist Sohan Singh, angry local Muslim women can be seen proesting the murder of Mubarak Khan.

“He (Mubarak Khan) was called by someone to Sirka village and deliberately killed on false allegations of bike-stealing. He was first tied to an electric pole and thrashed brutally,” Zakir Khan, one of the locals said to The New Indian Express.

“What is the use of a jack for stealing wheels of a bike,” Zakir questioned the allegations of theft after a battery has been found near the bike along with a jack used for changing the tires of a four-wheeler.
