The incident, according to reports, was reported on December 12, ahead of the Karnataka government’s proposal to table the Anti-Conversion Bill in the winter Assembly session set to begin on Monday.

Quoting police, reports said that no member of any Hindu right-wing group has been arrested so far.

The incident took place at Motilal road in Kolar’s Srinivaspura, reports said, adding, the members of the Hindu right-wing group stopped a prayer meeting organized at the residence of one Bebamma and seized religious booklets.

Srinivaspura police visited the spot and a cop, according to a video viral of social media, was seen urging the members of the right group to calm down. A few members of the Christian community were whisked away by the police, but, as per reports, no one from the Hindu right-wing group has been arrested.

There have been over 35 such attacks on the minority community reported in Karnataka this year alone. From January to September this year, there have been 32 attacks on churches and the Christian community according to a fact-finding report by the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR), the United Christians Forum and United Against Hate. There have been six more attacks between October and December.

On Sunday, the Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai said the bill on forcible religious conversion will come up for discussion in the winter assembly session.

“The scrutiny committee of the Law Department is preparing the draft of the bill. Once they submit it to the government, the cabinet will take a call and introduce the same in the winter session of the Assembly. Let there be a discussion on the subject,” the Chief Minister was quoted as saying.
