Salem: A hair stylist was arrested on Tuesday for refusing to give a dalit man a haircut. He was also booked under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The accused has been identified as Ramesh, 35, of Kolathur here. He has been running the salon for over a decade. Police said Elayaraja, 36, of Kaveripuram was refused a haircut, citing his caste, when he went to the salon a few days ago.
“Ramesh refused to cut my hair citing my caste. On Monday, he refused to give my son a haircut citing the same reason,” Elayaraja said.
