The Delhi Police worked to hush up the barbaric incident of the alleged rape of a Valmiki girl child whose corpse was later burned, but the organised protest in the village kept it alive as a national issue. All political parties have given their support, but the entire Modi government, including Meenakshi Lekhi, an MP from the area, neither expressed grief nor consoled the parents of the victim.
