Dehradun: Illegal tombs and graves built on forest land in the Dehradun and Pauri districts of Uttarakhand have been demolished. Before taking action, the forest department identified 15 tombs and graves built illegally. Later all these were demolished. This action was taken as soon as the instructions of the state government were received.
The mausoleum built on the land of the District Forest Department in Pauri has also been removed. This is the tomb of the same Peer Baba, for which Pauri MLA Ramkumar Pori had sanctioned an amount of two lakhs from the MLA’s fund for the construction of a tin shed. But, this decision of the MLA was strongly opposed by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad who demanded the removal of the tomb. It was also said that if the tomb is not removed, the council will launch a big agitation. The Dehradun Kazi issued a statement on this action of the Forest Department. He said that Islam does not allow anyone to build a grave or a tomb in a public place.
