Eviction notices were sent to more than 100 Muslim families in Chilkora village of Aligarh from the local administration; the families now face the threat of their homes facing demolition if they do not leave their homes within 15 days after Eid.
The notices were sent just a few days before Eid turning their joy into devastation and uncertainty. The authorities haven’t specified any reason for sending these eviction notices.
The families say that they have been living here for the past 50 years. On Thursday, these families approached the District Magistrate of his and submitted papers called “Bainama” as a proof that the land belongs to them.
In Uttar Pradesh and other BJP ruled States including Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand Gujarat and Assam bulldozers have been run over on shops and homes of Muslims.
With families facing demolition threat in 15 days who say that they have submitted relevant documents, the people of the Chilkora village watch closely with what unfolds in fear and uncertainty of what future holds for them and their families.
