Arguing for bail in the 2020 Northeast Delhi riots ‘larger conspiracy case’, Umar Khalid said other accused persons facing graver allegations than him are out on bail while those allegedly involved in the same activities as him have not even been made accused by the Delhi Police. Khalid was booked under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in connection with the case.
